Twice rose to famein 2016with their single " CheerUp ": thesongcharted at number 1 ontheGaonDigital Chart and became the best-performing single oftheyear. It alsowon "Song oftheYear" attwo majormusic awardsshows— Melon Music Awards

2013–2015: Formationthrough Sixteen and debut with TheStory Begins Edit
On December19, 2013, JYPEntertainment(JYPE) announced that they would debut anewgirlgroup in the first half of2014, thefirst female group to come out ofthe
company since thedebut ofMiss Ain 2010. [14] On February 27, 2014, JYPE traineesLenaandCeciliawere confirmedas members ofthegroup tentativelycalled as 6mix, whileother rumoured members included JYPEtrainees Nayeon,Jeongyeon,
Jisoo (later Jihyo) and Minyoung. [15][16] After Cecilia's departure, JYPEtraineeSana replacedherand 6mix wasabout to debut whenLena leftthecompany, effectively canceling their debut.
On February11, 2015, ParkJin-young announcedthat thelineup ofJYPE's upcoming sevenmember girlgroupwould bedecidedthroughSixteen ,a competitionsurvival
show that would air onMnet laterthat year. [17] The show beganon May 5 and ended withNayeon, Jeongyeon, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, and Chaeyoung as the sevenTwicemembers. Park then announcedthat he would be increasingthesize of the group fromseven members to nine byaddingTzuyu ,who was the"audience's pick" since she wasthemostpopularcontestant bytheshow's end, and Momo, who wasadded by Park himself since he felt thegroup needed someonewith Momo's performanceabilities. The decisionwascontroversial atthe time withmany people

Twice's secondEP, PageTwo , wasreleased onApril 25, 2016. Thealbumincludes title track " Cheer Up ", a remakeofPark Ji-yoon 's "Precious Love", and "I'm Gonna Be AStar", which served as the theme songfor Sixteen . The group held their comeback showcase thesame dayat theYes24 Live Hall locatedin Seoul, South

On September 23, Twice released their twoofficial colors, namely Apricot and Neon

On January10, JYPEannounced Twice's first solo concerttourwithinjust a year and four months afterdebuting in October 2015.
